Race Description
It is one of the historical event in the Italian Trail Running, perfectly organized by Maurizio Scilla, and characterized by an amazing post-race with free beer for all the runners. This year was the XIV Edition.
The race always starts from the field “La Salute” next to Salone Polivalente, where it is also possible to sleep the night before the race. The first kilometer is within the little village of Andorno Micca. Just outside the village, it starts the uphill, initially quite steep until reaching the forest road to Monte Casto.
The route of the race follows this forest road, until reaching a footpath at about 1000m. Here it begins the last uphill section, mainly into the pinewood. At km 6.2, at ca 1130m, it is located the highest point of the race: the cross of Monte Casto. The following downhill leads to a plateau, Selle di Pratetto, where it is possible to view part of the biellese Alps and where the first refreshment point is located.
After a sharp turn on the right, the downhill continues along a footpath, which leads first to Fraz. Trabbia at about km 10. The next three downhill kilometers are steeper, leading to the small village of Locato, where the second refreshment point is located.
It follows a sharp turn on the left, few flat meters and then a short/steep downhill for few hundred meters. At its bottom, a new uphill section starts: first along the forest road, and then along a footpath which lead to Fraz. Quadretto, at about km 15.5. The next two kilometers are uphill (slightly) and after downhill, passing by Colma di Andorno. Another turn on the right and the last steep downhill towards Andorno Micca begins. The last few hundred meters are the same of very first kilometer.
